EMANCIPATION DAY CELEBRATION 2010
The National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), Heritage Library Division will be hosting its annual Emancipation programme and launch of exhibition on Friday 23rd July at 6:30 p.m. at the Audio Visual Room, National Library Building.
A lecture on the theme for this year’s programme "The Economic Side of Slavery" will be delivered by Dr. Heather Cateau, lecturer UWI. St. Augustine.
Dr. Cateau holds a Ph.D. from the University of the West Indies and is a Senior Lecturer & Deputy Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Education. Dr. Cateau specializes in the study of plantation systems and in comparative systems of enslavement. She teaches courses in Caribbean History, Economic History, and Caribbean Historiography.
The public is invited to what is expected to be an exciting and informative programme.
